The brief
A multi-brand audio retailer carrying speakers, amplifiers, headphones, and adjacent gear needed a storefront that handled the spec-density audio buyers expect, without making the homepage read as a parts catalogue.
What we did
- Built the storefront from scratch on Shopify Plus with a custom theme that supports brand-first browsing alongside category-first browsing.
- PDPs structured for spec-rich buyers: full specifications visible above fold, comparison-tier signposting, and review excerpts from credible audio publications quoted near the buy-box.
- Brand landing rails — each carried manufacturer (speaker brands, amp brands, headphone brands) has a dedicated edit page, not a stub category.
- Cart and checkout tuned for higher-AOV electronics: clear shipping eligibility, return policy surfaced before checkout, and finance-option clarity.
Key decisions
- Spec density is a feature, not a problem. Audio buyers want the numbers — the layout surfaces them as a structured table rather than a marketing-copy paragraph.
- Brand reverence on PLPs. Manufacturers’ own design systems are visually preserved on each brand’s landing page, instead of being mashed into a single boutique tone.
Tech stack
Shopify Plus, custom theme on Liquid, Klaviyo, Judge.me, Checkout Extensibility, comparison tables built as theme islands.
Outcome metrics added once client confirms in writing.
