The brief

A bike and motorcycle parts and accessories retailer needed a storefront that handled the fitment-aware nature of automotive buying. The wrong part is a returns disaster — the page had to make compatibility unambiguous before the add-to-cart click.

What we did

  • Built the storefront from scratch on Shopify with a custom theme structured around vehicle-filtered browsing rather than generic category trees.
  • Fitment-aware PDPs: each part page surfaces the bikes and motorcycles it’s compatible with as a structured list, not as a buried disclaimer.
  • Vehicle filter on collection pages — buyers can pick their make and model up front and see only parts that fit, instead of scrolling through a catalogue of incompatible SKUs.
  • Cart and checkout reinforced for parts-buyer behaviour: clear shipping windows, fitment disclaimer on cart confirmation, and a post-purchase flow that asks for the install-day feedback.

Key decisions

  • Fitment first. Every PDP and PLP is built around the question “will this fit my bike” — the rest of the page exists to support that decision, not to upsell around it.
  • Returns reduction was the main success metric in the brief, not conversion rate. We optimised the page hierarchy accordingly.

Tech stack

Shopify, custom theme on Liquid, Klaviyo, Judge.me, vehicle filter built as theme island.
