The brief

A UK home and bedding brand selling kids furniture, beds, mattresses, and pillows needed a redesign that handled the high-AOV, considered nature of furniture buying. The category is classic “browse for weeks, buy once” — and the storefront had to support repeat visits without feeling stale.

What we did

  • Full Shopify Plus redesign with a custom theme tuned to the photography and the considered purchase journey.
  • Bed configurator: size, finish, mattress option, and add-ons selectable on the PDP, with a live price update and a clear “what’s included” summary as the buyer builds their order.
  • Mattress upsell logic that surfaces the mattress fit for each bed without a hard cross-sell banner — the upsell is contextual, not interruptive.
  • Cart and checkout reinforced for furniture’s big-ticket AOV: delivery scheduling, finance options, and a checkout that doesn’t bury fees.

Key decisions

  • We treated the configurator as the buying-decision moment, not a checkout step. The page earns the buyer’s trust by being clear about what’s in and what’s not.
  • Photography and lifestyle imagery leads. Specs follow. Furniture buyers convert on the picture of the bed in their imagined room — the page reflects that.

Tech stack

Shopify Plus, custom theme on Liquid, Klaviyo, Judge.me, Checkout Extensibility, configurator built on theme islands.
